U.S. Economy Lost 263,000 Jobs in September; Jobless Rate Rises to 9.8%
American employers cut 263,000 jobs last month, far more than
forecast, and the unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent from
9.7 percent in August, the Labor Department said.
