The good guy won. And I agree with you on union jobs. I had a student who went to work for a union but he refused to join the union. They wanted him so badly that they agreed to withhold what would have been his union dues and donate to his choice of charity. That was around 1970 and I doubt if he would get away with it now.
Boy Scout defeats SEIU
Allentown, Pennsylvania, laid off 39 people and Nick Balzano, president
of the local Service Employees International Union, tried to take it out
on a local Boy Scout — Kevin Anderson, 17 — who had cleared a 1,000-foot
walking Path at a local park in an effort to become an Eagle Scout.
The kid had worked more than 200 hours on the project.
Suddenly, volunteers are scabs.
Balzano threatened to file a grievance.
Glenn Beck took up the cause.
Now Balzano and 6 other union officials have resigned

Stern. That’ll only be trip number 23, and maybe he can give Barry
a recap on how he couldn’t intimidate that right-wing organization

Off topic but…..
I am continually embarrassed by union activity. I am a retired UAW
member. The union mentality is something to behold. Some examples
I encountered. PROFIT SHARING. I never felt we deserved any part
of the profits our employer gained. My co-workers would go nuts. I
simply asked them what they risked? The lack of understang of
risk/reward was foreign to them. I said maybe if you took a
substantial pay cut you might be entitled to some profits. The
word SOLIDARTY. Make me laugh. All for one, one for all, none
better than any. I would ask if this was true then why do the
International members have a different pension plan than the rank
and file? The answer was we don’t deal with International matters
at the local level. Unions were neccessary a long long time ago,
but their usefulness is past. EFFICIENCY, I shake my head. New
technology substaintally reduces the number of workers needed.
That cuts into the unions cashflow. This forces the company to
maintain employment levels that aren’t needed. How can a company
be competetive with that albatross around their neck? I could go
on forever but i will stop. Sad to say unions never embraced the
good workers. They coddled the mal-contents. The mal-contents
justified their need. I hesitate to post this cause the truth hurts.
