My problem with the list from the 1960 Dem platform is that what they call rights I would call opportunities. You should have to opportunity to attain all those goals. It is then up to you whether you are willing to put forth the effort to do so. That is something I agree with and that to me is the conservative platform.

The thing that really surprises me is in the comments. The one by MsMassachusetts posted at 09:57. The part that gets me is where she claims that it is a RIGHT to have health care and gay marriage. I must have missed that day in class because I sure don't remember the Constitution ever saying anything about that. Where do people come up with these justifications? The brilliant part is that you never have to really give the people their saxophones. According to WikiPedia, "positive liberty refers to having the power and resources to act to fulfill one's own potential, as opposed to negative liberty, which refers to freedom from restraint." Currently, leftists believe it is the government's obligation to provide everyone with the power and resources they need. That means, in effect, that if you have less money or education or health care than I do, then the government should give you money, education and health care. Only then can we participate as true "equals" in society, the economy, and government.
