I suppose it would be nice and simple to go with your definition and result. But it isn't. Until the discussion moves on from simple platitudes to medical sense, this argument will continue to go nowhere. In nearly all states, a person can be tried for murder of the fetus if a violent act is committed upon the pregnant mother. A person is considered dead in most states when brain activity ceases and/or the heart stops. Look at any ultrasound of a healthy 16 week old fetus and you see four chambers of a beating heart and two halves of a working brain.
Mom does not get to decide, AFTER she engages in the behavior that results in the fetus. I am using those words intentionally because I am making allowances for when a woman is forced into the act of having sex. This isn't a legal issue. It should be a medical one. When science says - it's a viable human fetus, then it should be protected with the same rights as any other person is given. That's the law, not what Mom decides.
