How could I forget that great industry of Blackwater and other private security firms who saw a huge increase in employees. As long as it was job created in security and surveillance Bush Jr. was all for it. Otherwise you were flat out of luck.
The Center for Public Integrity reported that since 1994, the Defense Department entered into 3,601 contracts worth *$300 billion with 12 U.S. based PMCs (Private Military Companies). Seventeen of the nation's leading private military firms have contributed $12.4 million in congressional and presidential campaigns since 1999. *$300 billion dollars was more than the whole defense budget up until Bush Jr. took over and bloated it by 3 times creating big brother world police.
