When driving down to Washington DC I accidentally missed a toll both because of the way the roads split off. A month later I got a ticket in the mail with a picture of my license plate number and explanation. I paid the fine, no court appearances, no police stopping me, no time lost, no hassles, all automatic with no need for anyone to be involved. I would agree that it is a more efficient method of doing things that way. I don't understand what people don't understand about cameras being put in public places where it's already known that crimes, accidents or moving violations take place. It provides nearly incontrovertible evidence in court of guilt or innocence.
