remember, Toyota is not the ONLY car company using flybywire. and if it IS true about the aircraft why hasn't it been brought up as a safety issue when it started to BECOME "fly by wire"?

This leaves you in a situation where you are left relying on a computer to interpret your input signals for how much throttle you want and hope that there is Not a glitch in the computer and it crashes causing you to go out of control and crash. Originally I was siding with Toyota and thought the problems were with incompetent drivers who even if the throttle stuck open, Were not smart enough to put on the breaks that normally can overpower most car's engines or shift into neutral and turn off the ignition. But now seeing that these cars use the "Fly By Wire" system like most newer jet airliners do now, The earlier airliners had cables connected from the pilot's controls to the rudder, elevator and airlons so if the hydraulic actuators failed the pilots using all their strength could still move the control surfaces somewhat. Now pilots only have electrical wires managed by computers to send control commands from the pilot to the electric servos that operate the flight controls on the wings. Now seeing this fly by wire system in Toyotas makes the possibility of multiple system failures at one time more possible. If a catastrophic computer / electrical failure took place it could effect not only the throttle, But possibly the ability to turn off the ignition (especially in models with a push button start switch instead of a mechanical key switch) If the throttle is controlled by electric impulses, Then shifting the transmission into neutral could also rely on an electric servo to do it ? Then there is the possibility of the cruise control taking over and increasing the throttle due to electronic malfunction. I had a cruise control on a Chevrolet once try to take me to a 100 MPH on an expressway on it's own, And managed to get it turned off. I went to two years of auto mechanics school many years ago and was a licensed auto mechanic and Ford Motor company factory trained mechanic, Then went on to electronics school and was licensed by the FCC to and worked on Commercial Jet Aircraft navigation and auto pilot systems.
