*Well, it's not like we haven't seen this type of censorship before from Google, but I was kind of hoping that Google would have learned their lesson by now and stopped trying to control their automatic suggestion program.* <http://doctorbulldog.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/obama-sucks01.jpg> *Keep your eye on the highlighted phrase, "obama successes." * *Now, if I were to type in "Obama suc" as a search parameter, I should still get, "obama successes:"* <http://doctorbulldog.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/obamasucks02.jpg> *Ooops! No suggestions... Google censorship in action!* *Now, to be fair, I tried just entering in the word "sucks" and the automatic suggest function was terminated as soon as I got to the letter "k" in "sucks." So, it would appear that the word "suck" has been placed on a banned wordlist at Google.* *What's up with that? What if I can't remember if the word "suckle" is spelled with an "le" or and "el" on the end?* *Just out of curiosity, I tried a plethora of what could be considered curse words. I'll leave that list to your own imagination. Very few vulgarities were actually censored, but they were VERY naughty words, IMHO. Interestingly enough, however, I discovered that one of the most blasphemous words to Christian sensibilities, the "GD" word, was NOT censored at all. Nor was the word "sh*t," which I consider to be much more vulgar than "sucks." * *So, question number one is, "Tell me, oh mighty Google, when did 'suck' become a word deemed so vulgar, so vile, so contemptuous as to elicit active censorship on your part?" * *And, question number two is, "Why do you even care what results are generated by your automatic suggest program?" * *Now, I can see editing the list for correct spelling, but active censorship of words deemed unacceptable by a self-acknowledged "Liberal" company like Google?
