Most everyone knows what a screener is; before you get on the air to talk with the BS artist, they want to know why your calling, or what issue you want to talk about, and/or may ask you some questions relating to what you want to talk about.
The conservative screener(s) typically pick the weakest of liberal callers. That's how they operate period. The same is true of many TV debates. I had a friend who called in to numerous conservative talk radio programs to punch holes in their arguments... he was hung up on every time...even after he waited up to 30 minutes. When he called back, the screener told him they (conveniently) ran out of time. But they had plenty time 30 minutes ago. Sometimes when pressed they'll tell the caller; "this is my radio show, get your own". Or they'll just simply hang up the phone on them. But more so, they just won't accept the call unless they have a pretty good feeling the person doesn't know what they're talking about...then they'll take the call. Why? Because they don't want any holes punched in their arguments. What does it gain them? That they always win any argument presented to them. What does it gain you the listener? Nothing.
