According to Chris Cilliza and Aaron Blake at _The Fix_ (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/house/mark-souder-to-resign.html) : The revelations regarding Souder come two weeks after he survived a serious primary challenge from car dealer Bob Thomas who spent considerable sums of his own money on the race. Souder won the primary with less than 50 percent of the vote. Although Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels could call for a special election to fill the seat before November's election, Cillizza and Blake say GOP sources think that won't happen. Republicans must pick a replacement nominee within 30 days. The _Democratic nominee_ (http://fortwaynehomepage.net/full text?nxd_id=25125) is Tom Hayhurst, who took 46% against Souder in 2006.
