Pledge to America drafted by lobbyist in bed with AIG, Exxon Mobil, drug makers
- September 23rd, 2010 4:11 pm ET The GOP's Pledge to America is yet another disguise for throwing out everything America is supposed to stand for and replacing it with an undisguised scheme to sellout the public to corporate lobbyists. The *GOP favor the big business* agenda is exactly what got America into the mess it is in now and selling this plan as anything but a lobbyists dream is nothing but pure rhetoric. “The Republican Party's 21-page blueprint, Pledge to America, was put together with oversight by a House staffer who, up till April 2010, served as a lobbyist for some of the nation's most powerful oil, pharmaceutical, and insurance companies,” according to the Huffington Post.<http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/22/pledge-for-america-brian-wild-lobbyist_n_735911.html> Need anyone say more? The Pledge to America lists Brian Wild as the Author. “A GOP source said that Wild is on House Minority Leader John Boehner's payroll” and “Until early this year, Wild was a fairly active lobbyist on behalf of the firm the Nickles Group, the lobbying shop set up by the former Republican Senator from Oklahoma, Don Nickles. During his five years at the firm, Wild, among others, was paid $740,000 in lobbying contracts from AIG, the former insurance company at the heart of the financial collapse; $800,000 from energy giant Andarko Petroleum; more than $1.1 million from Comcast, more than $1.3 million from Exxon Mobil; and $625,000 from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc,” according to CBS News.<http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20017335-503544.html?tag=contentMain;contentBody> The Pledge to America should have been called the Scam on America <http://www.examiner.com/political-spin-in-national/gop-wants-to-give-social-security-to-wall-street-gamblers>because it does nothing to help Americans – unless of course they are CEO’s of big oil companies, drug companies, or Wall Street bankers.
