Posted this morning at Electric Politics, a podcast interview with Dr.
Bruce Cumings, talking about his recent book, The Korean War: A
History. Bruce is Distinguished Service Professor and Chair of the
History Department at the University of Chicago. This book distills
his previous books and decades of research and analysis into a
shorter, more polemical and more popularized type format. It's history
worth knowing something about, in particular because the Korean War
marks the beginning of the new American Empire.

Bruce, and a few others, like Selig Harrison, have been rewriting the
history of the Korean War from a more Korean point of view. Probably
they're right and most mainstream historians and political scientists
are completely wrong. Why conventional wisdom should be so wrong is a
fascinating question...

Listeners curious about Korean controversies should read Bruce's book.
