plainolamerican,
Oh ye who hide behind a moniker, you obviously did not read the letter
to the editor that I linked to before making your asinine assertions, so
let me post it for you in its entirety.
*'Reminiscent of Nazi Germany'*
Dear Editor:
Although I've spent thousands of dollars there, I will never step foot
in a Walmart store again.
From a Dec. 6 Walmart press release, "Walmart is proud to be the first
national retailer to partner with Secretary Napolitano and the
Department of Homeland Security in the "If you see something, say
something" campaign. We urge our customers and associates to join us ..."
In hundreds of Walmarts, Napolitano's propaganda video will instruct,
"Say something immediately" if you see something "suspicious in the
parking lot or in the store ... ," report "suspicious activity to your
local police or sheriff," and if you require help "ask a Walmart manager
.. ."
In my opinion, the goal of government is to change this once free nation
into a police state where stores and neighbors become government informants.
This is reminiscent of Nazi Germany where people lived in a fear they
might be turned in by neighbors, friends, even family.
Americans and local law enforcement already have laws governing public
misconduct. We don't need, nor should we accept, the federal government
invading every aspect of our lives.
Thriving, safe communities aren't products of federal government
intrusion but of local people living in freedom.
It's not only Walmart playing Napolitano's video which is disturbing,
it's the awareness that we have no way of knowing what other actions
Walmart may do in cooperation with the government.
What is "suspicious?" Does shopping a store mean your behavior,
demeanor, purchases, should be subject to being reported to local law
enforcement because some Walmart associate or a shopper thought you
unusual?
Because Walmart associates don't have police powers to detain if you're
reported as "suspicious," what will occur until (and if) local law
enforcement is called and responds?
Will local law enforcement agree to become the force behind this? Local
law enforcement isn't private store security nor federal agents but must
respond as they do already if there's an allegation of an unlawful
activity or suspicious behavior of which there is an existing
prohibiting public ordinance.
To what extent might spying on you extend? You're already apparently
being watched by everyone, but might it also mean surveillance cameras
and microphones recording your image and conversations, your purchases
and who you're with for use by the federal government?
I see something. I'm saying it: The United States government tramples
rights and ignores its Constitution.
This nation is devolving into a police state where Americans, for the
sake of the big lie of government "security," are giving up their
liberty; where government usurps our founding principles; and where a
store that thrived on the American way of life has chosen to increase
the homeland tyranny by the federal government against the people by
partnering with it.
I do not feel safer or more secure in a store with such Orwellian
practices. I shop at a store to get things I need, not to be subject to
federal propaganda or fascist surveillance.

Why associate this initiative with Nazi Germany? Why not another
country that has done the same thing?
Does the ADL or SPLC pay you to post the words Nazi Germany?
