Why is the White House gardener, and food Nazi, taking about N.C. barbeque? I thought she wanted everyone only to eat carrots and healthy foods because the government knows best. Michelle doesn't know much about the south and her typical stereotype of southern culture is offensive. It is also offensive to claim Charlotte is known for barbeque, when it isn't. I would know, I live in Charlotte and have lived my entire life in the area. But there was one line in the e-mail announcement from First Lady Michelle Obama <http://topics.politico.com/index.cfm/topic/michelleobama> that made locals say, "Huh?" In listing Charlotte's many virtues, Obama named southern charm, hospitality, diversity — "And of course, great barbecue." That was news to residents, who know that North Carolina's<http://topics.politico.com/index.cfm/topic/michelleobama>best barbecue lies farther afield. "We appreciate the compliments, and they're all spot-on until that last one," the editorial board of the Charlotte Observer newspaper wrote in a blog post titled, "Charlotte = great barbecue? Who knew? <http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0211/48588.html>" "Everybody knows to get the best stuff, you gotta drive north to Lexington," the board added. Seems some people will say anything to get their husband re-elected. It is also hypocritical of the first-lady-food-nazi to talk about barbecue when she's out screeching about eating healthy.
