Could it be that it has deep ideological goals/doctrines it is determined to achieve whereas the liberal Left is confused as to what it wants. The Left says "we want to take care of the poor, helpless and homeless but we also want to cut welfare spending before it bankrupts the country." So, the welfare of the poor is being cut instead of raising taxes even though doing so would reduce the extreme divergence of wealth. Would raising taxes drive down the economy? Clinton raised taxes and the economy prospered . . .
What does the Republican core think and believe that gives it the ability to impose that agenda on the country's public opinion? At the core of the business class is the doctrine of Libertarianism. You have heard of the Marxist/communist movement of old, well the Libertarians are the precise mirror image of them, that is, they are the militant party of Capitalism. They believe that nearly all if not all functions of government can be better handled by business. In addition, they partner with the Christian Fundamentalists of the nation in a shifting and subtle unspoken alliance. Would we all be better off if the whole government were corporatized or even just "more of it?" Why do the fanatically religious partner with the libertarians? Any answers out there?
