During the 2008 financial crisis, the Federal Reserve made thousands of loans to banks and other large institutions for reasons that aren’t entirely clear. These loans totaled at least three trillion dollars and exposed the American taxpayer to potentially enormous financial liability for losses. Because such decisions of the Federal Reserve affect the value and stability of the dollar, and therefore the life and livelihood of every American, we have every right to ask - who got the money? The Fed should not be handing out money and picking winners and losers. The Fed should not be printing money out of thin air in an effort to create inflation. If we are to grow our economy, get people back to work, and create the conditions for long term economic growth, the American people must know that they are safe from the Federal Reserve degrading the value of the dollar and increasing our cost of living.
