While the results of the election were not what we had hoped in the 32nd Senate District, together we played a pivotal role in securing a Republican majority in the Commonwealth and moved closer to electing an independent voice for Northern Virginia! My opponent and her political machine were forced to spend over a million dollars in my race; employing dirty tricks many politicians would never consider using. Nevertheless we still garnered over 17,000 votes resulting in one of the strongest showings of any Republican candidate in Northern Virginia. Senator Howell was forced to spend nearly twice as much as she has spent in any of her previous elections, and our race became an unplanned priority for the Democratic machine. Many in Richmond are convinced that by forcing Democrats to spend a million dollars in my District, we were able to win other highly competitive races and achieve a Republican majority in the State Senate. If Democrats had spent a few hundred thousand dollars more in Culpeper, rather than in Reston for example, they would have retained their majority. These milestones are the signs of great things to come. Many of you have called and emailed in the last several months reminding me that few first time candidates win. Your words of encouragement have affirmed my resolve to keep fighting. My team and I came out of this State Senate race battle-tested, smarter, stronger and even more motivated! It is now time to get ready for the next fight. I’m honored that the Republican National Committee has appointed me to its “D.C. Finance Committee”, as well as the newly formed “1600 Society”. As a member of these organizations I’ll fight to build our party organization and bring a much needed Millennial Generation voice to Republican leadership. I’m excited to help our upcoming Republican Presidential Nominee and build our organization to fight in Northern Virginia. Towards this end, I’m asking again for you to show your support. We need your help to rebuild the Forrest for Senate organization that achieved so many accomplishments in the 2011 election cycle, as we prepare for the 2012 campaigns.
