November 15, 2012 By: David Codrea Following a heated controversy that has alienated many gun owners and veterans, the CEO of Wounded Warrior Project will be interviewed Sunday on Tom Gresham's Gun Talk Radio, a press release from the nationally-syndicated program announced this afternoon.
“While it would have been appropriate last week to have a warrior on the show to talk about his or her activities with the WWP, at this point, the story is about your policy,” Gresham responded. He then renewed his invitation, but predicated it on the group discussing the policy that led to the controversy and furor among outraged gun owners. That the group feels it appropriate to have their CEO handle the program appearance directly shows how seriously they take the negative feedback they’ve received, and their acknowledgment that they recognize a significant segment of their supporters have been alienated by the way in which the program invitation was declined. "I'm really glad that the Wounded Warrior Project is coming on the show to clarify their position on this," the press release quoted Gresham. "It has been really confusing to see them taking donations from firearms manufacturers as well as hunting groups, and then to be told that they won't appear in public with us. The latest communication from WWP is that this is all a big mistake and that they want to clear it up with me this Sunday." “One thing that's evident in spite of much noise to the contrary by anti-gunners who can't marshal and mobilize such grassroots force on a moment's notice -- the firearms community can,” this column observed yesterday. Gun Talk Radio can be heard on Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. Eastern time on more than 137 stations nationwide, on XM (Ch. 165) Satellite Radio or via live streaming over the internet.
