Being that I have several clients who are currently located in the hoosegow, I can speak first hand that a federal prisoners' computer access is severely limited. A federal prisoner may be granted the privilege of access to what is termed "Corrlinks"; which is a very limited, plain text e-mail program that is monitored by the Bureau of Prisons. The party to which the prisoner e-mails to, is first contacted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to ensure that the person wishes to receive e-mails from the prisoner, and again, all communications are monitored.
