Neocon Lincoln Cultists Repudiate Their Own B.S.

Every time the neocons suspect that the public is becoming suspicious of the real reasons for their project of never-ending war, invasion, and occupation they dredge up the rotted corpse of Abe Lincoln. They do this by claiming that the aggressive, non-defensive invasion of other countries is done in the name of “government of the people, by the people, for the people,” as Abe once said. The Official Line is that Abe invaded his own country when Southerners refused to accept the results of a democratic election. Democracy in the world would have ended, it is said, had the South been allowed to create another additional democracy among the eleven Southern states. This was “the last best hope on earth,” said Abe. Bla, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla.
Today we have all the neocons supporting the overthrow of Egypt’s only democratically-elected president. They support the funding of the Egyptian military, which just completed a coup, and also support arming the al Qaeda “rebels” who participated in the overthrow. National Review let Elliot Abrams crawl out from under his rock to editorialize in support of the military coup while trying to sound “reasonable” by saying that the Egyptian military should have waited another six months or so before overthrowing the duly elected government.
