I can't imagine why the thirst mechanism shuts off like that. But I bet there's something good about it somewhere. Otherwise why would we have evolved like that (or even been Created like that)?
Zero didn't get invented right away. I wonder whether the Romans were even familiar with it? If you listen with a stethoscope at someone's ear, the sound you hear just could be the ocean, depending on how good the stethothcope is or how close you are to the ocean.
