US Calls Netanyahu 'Desperate and Weak'

Senior officials in the White House have said that Israel Prime Minister
Binyamin Netanyahu “is desperate and weak,” in reaction to Netanyahu's
remonstrations against the deal struck with Iran over its nuclear weapons
program.

Israeli television *Channel 10* quoted the officials as saying “His
pronouncements show a lack of self-confidence,” in an unusually harsh
personal attack on Netanyahu. “We are not perturbed by his vocal
opposition.”

Netanyahu was also* raked over the coals
Sunday*<http://News/News.aspx/174688>by he man he replaced in the
prime minister's bureau, Ehud Olmert, who
accused him of bringing relations with the US to an “unprecedented” low
point. However Netanyahu is showing no sign of flagging in his campaign
against the policies of the US and the other P5+1 powers.

"As the prime minister of Israel, I warn time and time again of the dangers
that are related to the Iranian nuclear program,” he added. “When I see a
danger to the citizens of Israel I will not remain silent.”

Thousands of Ukrainians took to the streets of Kiev late on Saturday in a
show of defiance directed at President Viktor Yanukovich after riot police
forcibly cleared several hundred pro-EU protesters from the capital’s main
square earlier in the morning. The police operation wound up injuring
dozens and temporarily detaining about 30 activists.

Thousands of people swarmed “spontaneously” on to Kiev’s streets, reported
the *Financial Times*, cheered on by hundreds of citizens driving their
cars through the capital’s downtown area, honking horns in front of
government buildings and waving flags of Ukraine and the European Union.

Other protesters blocked traffic along Ukraine’s main street, chanting:
“Revolution, Revolution. Glory to Ukraine. Glory to the heroes. Out with
the bandits.”

Protesters have been angered by the government’s recent reported decision
to back away from signing a historic EU integration agreement in favor of
reviving closer ties with Russia.
