She couldn't help but wonder if what ever let Julia come back also opened
the door for him. It was a horrible thought and she wouldn't voice it,
because she didn't want to make Julia feel guilty. It wasn't her fault.
But what it....what if Julia was connected to this thing somehow and by more
than just her murder? It was a possibility that should be investigated.
Alex
knew her friend was not evil and would intentionally do anything to harm
them, but if there was something none of them knew about not even Julia?
But Julia was already thinking along those lines and looked at the
Sephlicurs before looking at Derek, blue eyes troubled "What did you use..
to - to bring me back?"
What if it were her fault that the demon was back.....? She started to
straighten and felt herself shake, even as she started to withdraw her arms
from around Nick. If she had put them in danger....... she'd never be able
to forgive herself.
"No." Derek looked at both Alex and Julia, his gaze sure "That rite had
nothing to do with bringing back the demon. I'd stake my life on it. There
was no darkness involved and I know the Beings involved were of the Light.
Whatever brought him back had nothing to do with the rite or the action of
your coming back.. at least not negatively."
He looked at Alex "What if... what if the Beings that helped us knew about
the demon's return..."
Julia looked at both of them with a confused frown and hugged her stomach
before bowing her head. What if...?
"Think about it," Derek continued, going over to type up the journal files
related to the case "Each one of us had the keys seduced from us, from an
act to which we felt guilt and that we had to have forgiveness from."
He looked at Julia, who was lifting her head but not as animate as she had
been moments ago "Did he do the same to you? Did he get your key by.. well
repenting for something you still couldn't forgive yourself for?"
Julia shook her head, remembering the flash of memory she had had twice
already "No."
She couldn't meet their gazes. What had she done...?
Derek straightened and clenched his jaw, looking at all three of them for a
silent moment.
"So, you think he came back to win her key," Alex asked. It made sense, but
he had to do more than that now. "Except it isn't just hers anymore, it's
all of them."
