Had it been hours or minutes? she wondered as the past couple of weeks all came crashing down on her shoulders, making them slump under the emotional weight and confusion.

It had started off well enough -- even with a feel of normallacy which should have been her first clue all hell was going to break loose.  Her life, she thought wryly to herself, could have never been classified as normal, no matter who you were.

She looked out over the bay water, the bike on its kick stand behind her.  Being at the bay and watching the water usually had a tendency of calming her down.  She figured it was the water and found that ironic.

Her profile showed a young woman with more things on her mind and a 'weight' on her shoulders than most people even twice her age and then some - but it also showed a surprising strength gained from years of having to deal with a lot of things, all without taking away from her natural appearance.  There weren't worry lines, there weren't dark circles under her eyes.  There was just the knowledge of something deep within and the steady acceptance that she didn't have all of the answers and that, no matter how hard, she would deal with whatever was thrown her way.

Because that was all she could do.  The alternative was giving up and that wasn't even an option.

She closed her eyes as the breeze off of the water gently lifted small strands of her chestnut colored hair and she drew her knees up to prop her chin on.

What a day....
