Derek watched the two and Kat as they approached the altar and settle into their positions before stepping aside from his place and letting the ladies go ahead of him so that they could quietly make their way toward their assigned seats in the pews.

Here were two people within the Legacy and a part of his House that were more like daughter and son to him.. and he was watching them finally able to fulfill their deepest desires and be a part of it.

His smile was that of a father, with pride, as he watched the proceedings.  Frankly, he would have fought Sloan until hell froze over if the man had decided to continue with his opinion and order that the two couldn't be married and would have ignored it all together, no matter the consequences.

What Sloan seemed to fail to realize, he thought as he saw the couple's gazes and expressions toward the other, was that heaven itself had returned Julia Walker to be here with Nick Boyle, to right a wrong.  Who were they to stand in the way of such a decision?  Not that he would have even tried to begin with.  He had been there when they had found Julia's body and even after, each year, when Nick had been unable to heal from the loss and move on.

And he saw Nick now.  Not the Nick of the past few years but the Nick that had been before Julia was taken away from them.

Derek sat and watched the proceedings and felt a great sense of rightness about all of this and was glad he was able to be a part of it.

Rachel had been recording since she had spotted her daughter peeking around the corner of the entry way and now and couldn't help but grin tearfully as the ceremony started.

It was just......... beautiful.
