When Sloan awakened, it was nearly 6:00 P.M. and his stomach was grumbling fiercely, which meant only one thing: he hadn't eaten since the morning of his departure. Taking into consideration the lateness of the hour, he went downstairs to the restaurant and ordered the following: the house salad with bleu cheese dressing as first course, followed by a prime rib, medium rare with baked potato with soured cream and chives and for dessert a big piece of cheese cake. Having had a sumptuous meal, he tipped the waiter generously and returned to his room.
