All of the documentation I can find for paper-dropdown-menu includes using 
paper-dropdown as a child (see 
https://www.polymer-project.org/docs/elements/paper-elements.html#paper-dropdown-menu).
 
 If it was just a renaming, why are both being used at the same time?
