Note that many Pico ITX systems (ones more bent towards
the industrial side) offer RS-232 support on the motherboard or
via a "daughtercard", a common
interface for nanokernels and PPS (pulse-per-second) use of refclocks.

I've had several mini-ITX systems (a previous small form factor generation)
in use here for nearly a decade (since 2002). And PC/104, an industrial-
oriented small form factor, has been around for longer than any of them
and is even smaller than Pico ITX.
