Most of the work on the NTP Pool is "in the background" maintaining things and
making them robust -- and of course monitoring. A couple weeks ago I made a
new "widget" to help monitor the DNS servers:

(might only work on newer browsers; also there's some memory leak in the
javascript, so don't keep it running overnight or your browser will get slow).
