Hello, I'm currently facing some problems when resolving *.pool.ntp.org hosts. This may be related to the fact that there are some nameservers (a, c, d, i) unresponsive to me resp. my networks.
Whenever I'm flushing the cache of a resolver I need to wait about 10-15 minutes until I get name resolution for pool.ntp.org working. Maybe bind9 does not try to contact all listed name servers at once and therefore it will run into timeouts while trying to resolve. I'ts really annoying on one of my resolvers which is configured to reduce all TTLs to a maximum of 300 seconds (which makes sense for my setup). But this resolver is mostly unable to resolve pool.ntp.org and responds with SERVFAIL to the client. Is anyone else facing these issues? This can be easily triggered by flushing the resolver cache on the resolving server itself (or simply restarting the resolver service). Or maybe anything has changed to the DNS server software? Greetings from Wuppertal, Max
