yes, the problem is packet loss from US to China.
so can pool.ntp.org deploy a monitor node in China for all nodes in China? otherwise the ntp servers can't work properly. here is cvs log: http://www.pool.ntp.org/scores/58.216.105.122/log?limit=50 ts_epoch,ts,offset,step,score,leap 1464534766,"2016-05-29 15:12:46",0.00703537464141846,1,-3.7,0 1464533603,"2016-05-29 14:53:23",,-5,-5,0 1464532443,"2016-05-29 14:34:03",,-5,0,0 1464531298,"2016-05-29 14:14:58",0.0147323608398438,1,5.3,0 1464530149,"2016-05-29 13:55:49",0.013084888458252,1,4.5,0 1464529009,"2016-05-29 13:36:49",-0.00394964218139648,1,3.7,0 1464527843,"2016-05-29 13:17:23",,-5,2.8,0 1464526659,"2016-05-29 12:57:39",0.0141698122024536,1,8.3,0 1464525507,"2016-05-29 12:38:27",0.0113791227340698,1,7.6,0 1464524322,"2016-05-29 12:18:42",0.0136792659759521,1,7,0 1464523141,"2016-05-29 11:59:01",,-5,6.3,0 1464522002,"2016-05-29 11:40:02",-0.0708756446838379,1,11.9,0 1464520820,"2016-05-29 11:20:20",-0.0564212799072266,1,11.5,0 1464519662,"2016-05-29 11:01:02",-0.0386607646942139,1,11,0 1464518420,"2016-05-29 10:40:20",0.00934600830078125,1,10.6,0 1464517218,"2016-05-29 10:20:18",0.017402172088623,1,10.1,0 1464516060,"2016-05-29 10:01:00",0.0112299919128418,1,9.5,0 1464514885,"2016-05-29 09:41:25",0.0112540721893311,1,9,0 1464513721,"2016-05-29 09:22:01",0.0134586095809937,1,8.4,0 1464512556,"2016-05-29 09:02:36",0.0162408351898193,1,7.8,0 1464511394,"2016-05-29 08:43:14",0.0197838544845581,1,7.2,0 1464510218,"2016-05-29 08:23:38",,-5,6.5,0 1464509076,"2016-05-29 08:04:36",0.0203964710235596,1,12.1,0 1464507848,"2016-05-29 07:44:08",0.0254322290420532,1,11.7,0 1464506684,"2016-05-29 07:24:44",0.0132961273193359,1,11.2,0 1464505569,"2016-05-29 07:06:09",0.0265895128250122,1,10.8,0 1464504361,"2016-05-29 06:46:01",0.0141158103942871,1,10.3,0 1464503208,"2016-05-29 06:26:48",0.0122572183609009,1,9.8,0 1464502072,"2016-05-29 06:07:52",-0.0480952262878418,1,9.2,0 1464500934,"2016-05-29 05:48:54",0.00768721103668213,1,8.7,0 1464499825,"2016-05-29 05:30:25",0.0154473781585693,1,8.1,0 1464498710,"2016-05-29 05:11:50",,-5,7.4,0 1464497527,"2016-05-29 04:52:07",0.00215423107147217,1,13.1,0 1464496399,"2016-05-29 04:33:19",0.00249099731445312,1,12.7,0 1464495252,"2016-05-29 04:14:12",0.015934944152832,1,12.3,0 1464494083,"2016-05-29 03:54:43",0.0153771638870239,1,11.9,0 1464492958,"2016-05-29 03:35:58",-0.010407567024231,1,11.5,0 1464491817,"2016-05-29 03:16:57",0.0139894485473633,1,11.1,0 1464490664,"2016-05-29 02:57:44",0.0107415914535522,1,10.6,0 1464489507,"2016-05-29 02:38:27",0.0159789323806763,1,10.1,0 1464488390,"2016-05-29 02:19:50",0.0157226324081421,1,9.6,0 1464487251,"2016-05-29 02:00:51",0.0148416757583618,1,9,0 1464486022,"2016-05-29 01:40:22",0.0143413543701172,1,8.5,0 ------------------ ???????? ------------------ ??????: "dan-ntp";<[email protected]>; ????????: 2016??5??29??(??????) ????1:16 ??????: "pool"<[email protected]>; "refactor"<[email protected]>; ????: Re: [Pool] ntp server performance and score For tuning, nic interrupt coalescing will help a bit. It might already be enabled. I believe the monitoring server for the pool is in California. China regularly has packet loss to the rest of the world, so this is probably what is causing your score to be lower than you'd expect. -----Original Message----- From: refactor <[email protected]> To: pool <[email protected]> Sent: Sat, 28 May 2016 4:04 PM Subject: [Pool] ntp server performance and score there are few public ntp server in China, we have two ntp servers to join the pool. we set the speed to 25Mbps, so the ntp traffic is about 4939.8 packets/sec. the NTP server could not keep up requests, then the score is down. if we upgrade to chrony, it can keep up the requests. how can i tuning the ntp server performance? how the ntp score is calculated? i find the score is drop sometime even though it have stable time reference and network connection. _______________________________________________ pool mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ntp.org/listinfo/pool _______________________________________________ pool mailing list [email protected] http://lists.ntp.org/listinfo/pool
