Probably not. Thanks to Brexit, what is now the United Kingdom may
well end up as Great Britain (ie without Northern Ireland). And
perhaps not so great either.... :-)

.gb is the ISO code for United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
It is not distinct from .uk politically.

I'm not sure we should be making present day technical decisions based on uncertain political futures. It can always be changed if in the very unlikely case, something changes in the future.

In global DNS .gb is deprecated but reserved for the UK - that is certainly an option for the NTP pool. The main thing is the remove the confusion of having two zones called 'United Kingdom' in the zone list.
