I just set up an account.  I did an nslookup set to the MX and found 
that the mail server mail.birdmail.com was their only mail exchanger.  
So I set both POP and SMTP to that MX and they both work.  Not well, 
but they both work.

POP= mail.birdmail.com
SMTP= mail.birdmail.com

That popper is very, very slow.

I had a problem with the signup procedure.  You had to enter another 
birdmail.com user's email address as a referrer.  I did not like that.
