I know that when sendmail.ru was announced on POP3 it proved to be a
popular domain for many of our subscribers. So here is another Russian
domain webmail/pop3 service that you may wish to obtain an account:
http://www.mail.ru/
Yikes! It's in Russian. <g> No problem. See that "English" link in
the upper right corner? Click it and all will be clear. :-)
http://eng.mail.ru/
That's better. :-)
Okay, be aware that you'll be required to fill out a fairly long form
on two pages. And the form had a few glitches. I had to redo a few
things before it accepted my application.
Now then, the POP3 Server is simply: mail.ru
However, the site states that they "recommend" you use your own SMTP
and it does not give you an SMTP. So you would figure they don't allow
smtp, huh? Well, I wasn't taking a no for this. I am getting smarter
about these things. <g>
I whipped out an Internet Utilities program and found out they do have
a sending mail exchanger. So you can enter an SMTP of: mx.mail.ru
Try it. I thought it worked pretty fast considering the distance
between me and the server.
