I agree with your remarks in totality. My Hotmail accounts have created so
much spam I am afraid to open them in Hotmail web sites because of the time
to sift through and decipher all that stuff. Even I have received mail from
my own account. It has been compromised by hackers and they are using for
sending rubbish through my account. Every time I use block function for
certain address, the next time I have another flood of such trash mail. You
are right I should have accounts with other servers, like Yahoo, who are
both web and pop. I have done this already but still would like to control
my hotmail accounts.

Can you login to your account at the Hotmail web site? There may be a
problem with your particular server.
Why don't you create a Yahoo or MailandNews account? You will get an
account that can be doubly used as webmail and pop3 mail. There are
other accounts suited for this task as well, such as MyRealbox.com,
DigitalMe.com, Paxemail.com, Operamail, etc.

We really do not deal with pure webmail accounts on our list, since our
focus is on POP3 services, but there are accounts we get that can do
double duty as pop3 and webmail. Hotmail for many of us is basically a
garbage can. At least for me it is. My two Hotmail accounts are my
greatest spam receptacles. :-)
