It was particularly vexing since I am subscribed to this list through
Mochamail (as well as the flighty Yahoo service). Being in the middle of
setting up and transferring data to a new computer didn't make things
easier either.

I have always used the "mail.mochamail.com" setting but that didn't help
during the recent outages when even their website was down. Everything does
seem to be back to normal now. These temporary glitches are often brief,
although exasperating while occurring. (Just taking a leaf from the Alan S.
Harnell book of "Patience for POP" :>)
