I found the problem or rather the solution which is not a solution for me.

If you alter the settings in Internet Properties as suggested, making The
Bat the programme to use for e-mail **and** you use Explorer, it does work;
but I've been using Netscape since v.2 and am not prepared to to go with
Explorer now. (The best browser I ever used was "iCab" on the Mac but I'm
trapped on a 'Winblows' machine for the immediate future.) What about
Opera?
So it's back to Messenger for those quick e-mails at a website, using
Runbox on Port 26 and a manual POP first, unless someone has another
suggestion?
