Just picked up the 2nd Mermaid Avenue CD by Billy Bragg and Wilco this weekend.
Alex' recommendation that is was 'more of the same' told me just enough. That
first one just never made it out of my CD player, with California Stars as one
of my alltime Summer favorites.
But, I have to say, the new one sure is a nice follow-up. Not so surprising as
no. 1, of course, but still enough to make me want to play it over and over
again.
As for Wilco, yes, I am a fan. As Mermaid Ave I also had Summerteeth glued into
my CD player for the longest time. And I have this crazy thing with the song Via
Chicago, that keeps popping up in my mind every now and then, for no apparent
reason. Probably just because it's a brilliant song, the way I like em best.
Good stuff.
Now, two travelling questions:
1. Can anybody recommend anything in Liverpool and/or northern England? I am
going to be there next weekend and wouldn't mind visiting some good concerts,
clubs, bars, museums, etc etc. Anyone?
2. Anyone on the list from the Portland/Seattle/Vancouver area? That's where
I'll be travelling the second half of August. Same questions for this area.
