Hello,

Please find attached two new ports for XFile 1.2.1 and XImaging
1.9.2:

x11/xfile
graphics/ximaging

Both applications are developed by the same upstream project and are
lightweight X11 applications written in C using the Motif toolkit.

XFile is a compact file manager that presents the filesystem
directly, without virtual locations or a trash abstraction. It
provides its own Unix-style file type association database,
configurable X resources, filesystem mounting support, and
integration with removable-media mount daemons.

The port installs the xfile executable, the xfile-open symlink, its
manual page and X resources, as well as the default file type
database and bundled XPM icons.

XImaging is a lightweight multithreaded image viewer and browser. It
provides image viewing, zooming, panning and rotation, as well as a
thumbnail-based directory browser and basic file management. Common
raster formats are supported directly, while external filters may be
configured for additional formats.

The XImaging port depends on Motif, libjpeg, libpng and libtiff.
OpenMP is explicitly disabled, while pthread support is retained.

Both ports use the upstream OpenBSD build target while passing the
compiler, flags, installation prefix, X11 and local include/library
paths, manual page directory, and app-defaults directory explicitly
from the ports infrastructure.

Installation is handled by the ports directly rather than relying on
the upstream install targets, keeping installed paths under the
control of the OpenBSD ports infrastructure.

The versions included are the current upstream releases: XFile
1.2.1, released on August 4, 2026, and XImaging 1.9.2, released on
July 12, 2026. Both are maintenance releases containing usability
improvements, minor enhancements, and bug fixes.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,
David.

Hello,

Please find attached revised versions of the x11/xfile and
graphics/ximaging ports. These replace the versions I sent previously.

The software versions themselves are unchanged: XFile remains at 1.2.1
and XImaging at 1.9.2. The new revisions improve the ports and include
some additional upstream functionality that I missed in the first
submission.

The XFile port now includes several companion components distributed
by the same upstream author:

* xfile-addon, which provides additional file type definitions and
icons;
* xfind, the graphical file search utility designed to integrate with
    XFile;
* xfile-xdgsvc, which implements the freedesktop
    org.freedesktop.FileManager1 D-Bus interface;
* the optional slanted icon set.

The additional type definitions and their icons are installed directly
into XFile's shared data directories, where XFile discovers them
automatically. Alternative generic file icons and the slanted icon set
are installed under share/examples instead, so the package does not
override the default appearance automatically.

xfind is built and installed together with its manual page, X
resources, and application icon.

xfile-xdgsvc adds XDG/D-Bus integration, allowing applications using
the org.freedesktop.FileManager1 interface, such as Firefox or GIMP,
to invoke XFile as a file manager. This adds x11/dbus as a dependency
and installs the appropriate D-Bus service file.

I added two small patches for xfile-xdgsvc. One makes its build use
the compiler, flags, include paths, and library paths supplied by the
ports framework instead of generating them through pkg-config. The
other fixes several issues in the source, including use of an
uninitialized return value, an uninitialized string in an error
message, and a missing return value from a function declared to
return int.

The XFile OpenBSD makefile patch was also cleaned up. It now preserves
CFLAGS supplied by the ports infrastructure, adds upstream's warning
flags rather than replacing CFLAGS, and avoids adding the include
paths twice.

I also added a pkg-readme documenting the additional XFile resources,
the optional icon sets, xfind, and the D-Bus integration without
changing any per-user configuration automatically.

For XImaging, the revised port now installs ImageMagick as a runtime
dependency and enables the external ImageMagick filter documented by
upstream. This provides support for additional formats such as GIF,
PSD, SVG, and XCF while leaving XImaging's native image loaders
unchanged.

I also corrected the upstream OpenBSD makefile's ENABLE_OPM typo to
ENABLE_OMP and keep OpenMP explicitly disabled by default. The
makefile patch now preserves CFLAGS and LDFLAGS supplied by the ports
framework instead of replacing them, while retaining the required
warning and pthread flags.

The package descriptions and packing lists have been updated as
necessary for the additional functionality.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,
David.

Hi iz,

The issue with xfile was caused by me not generating the distinfo file correctly.

As for ximaging, it looks like the project's official website removes older releases from its server, presumably to save storage space.

I've attached the xfile 1.2.1 port with the distinfo file regenerated correctly, as well as the ximaging port updated to version 1.9.3.

Best regards,
David.
