Hello all, Thank you so much for the thoughtful and encouraging replies - it really means a lot to see such interest in strengthening FreeBSD’s HPC story. Konstantin: Thanks for suggesting UCX. I wasn’t yet tracking it, but it clearly belongs in the Phase 1 effort alongside OpenPMIx and PRRTE, so I’ll add it to my list. Janky: I really appreciate your offer to test patches as they come along. Having people try things out early will make a big difference, so I’ll be sure to share work-in-progress patches for feedback. Laurent: Great to hear from you! I know your work on MPI and related ports already forms the foundation of HPC on FreeBSD, and OpenPBS sounds like an excellent addition. I’d be glad to coordinate with you so our work complements each other. Thierry: Thank you for the encouragement and for looping in Deb. A Quarterly Status Report entry sounds like a great way to give this effort more visibility once a few more ports have landed, and I’ll aim for that. I’m excited to see others share an interest in this space. With some coordination and steady progress, I think we can build up a solid and modern HPC stack for FreeBSD. Please keep the suggestions coming - I’ll do my best to turn them into working ports. Best regards, Rikka

This is an excellent initiative! Once you've made a bit of progress on this project, it would be nice to give it more visibility, for example by proposing an entry in the quarterly status report. I'm also Cc:ing Deb (FreeBSD fundation), who might be able to give some good advice. Meanwhile, if some of your PRs are stuck, don't hesitate to ping me. Best regards. -- Th. Thomas.
