I distinctly remember an email message on ports informing us about the
update to dovecot-1.0.0 with bug and security fixes. The precompiled
package is available on the mirrors and from the errata web page

This is what I am running:
upgrading to the dovecot-1.0.0 package fixed the issue. thanks for the
advice all, should have done it without asking unnecessarily :P
