ok for the update. I am not exactly enthusiastic about them using /tmp/runtime-$uid though (especially as it does nothing to create it as safely as possible if the dir doesn't already exist). The whole point of the pam_systemd /run/user/$uid thing is that it's safely created by a "trusted" part of the system with $uid ownership and 700 permissions.
