Hi Matthias, Even though we have everything lined up to switch to ghc-9.8.2, I'm having second thoughts.
GHC release plans here deprioritize this branch: https://www.haskell.org/ghc/blog/20240521-ghc-release-priorities.html Unless somebody has a good reason for us to jump, I propose we keep the ports tree following the 9.6 series. If 9.8.3 appears before 9.6.6, we can reconsider. The only thing we should do with the port soon is remove the AWX-512 patch. It helped the new machines when base system didn't support AWX-512. Now that it does, we should drop the patch that breaks some very old machines. Thanks Greg
