This is a set of perl scripts I've been working on and off for a few years.
I was dissatisfied with the mpv OSD integration, which is the reason
why I didn't offer it as a port before.

I actually use this to index most of my videos and photos these days
(since mpv can also show stills)

Fairly foolproof, as it doesn't even need to build anything.

-------------------------

tag-videos is a set of scripts to tag videos designed for mpv(1)-like
programs.

It runs interactively in a terminal, using readline to allow tab
completion.

See ${EXAMPLEDIR}
for sample lua scripts and config for integration with mpv(1)

The database is a simple sqlite database.

tag-videos comes with companion scripts
- search-video-tags that allows simple search queries,
- merge-videos-tags to handle schema updates and batch operations,
- display-videos-tags for OSD use in mpv(1)

It has extensive features to suggest the best tags.

Though optional, it will recognize and use the LevenshteinXS module
if present: # pkg_add p5-Text-LevenshteinXS

It can also automatically add some tags or rename common mispelling
if needed (see RULES in the manpage)
