Dear ports@, this is a port of Praat, the ubiquituous phonetics tool. It builds and runs on amd64 and arm64 (RPI4).
The compilation gets killed on my i386 machine and my armv7 machine,
as it's C++ and it uses relatively large amounts of memory which the
machines simply don't have; I will try to give them enough swap
so they might build this in a few weeks.
Praat's build system is pretty weird: it insists on knowing the OS
(one of win, macintosh, linux or freebsd), so I added an openbsd
stanza to Praat's Makefile. The code is filled with #ifdefs;
I added -DUNIX to the openbsd stuff and replaced ifdef (linux)
with ifdef (UNIX) at a few places. I will try to push bits
of the diffs upstream.
The port has no audio yet. That might seems useless,
but it can still do spectra and draw formants and run
praat scripts that process the audio data quietly,
so it's useful even so I think. It can use JACK,
I'll to add that next. Adding sndio support would
be great of course but I don't know the Praat code
very well as of now.
There is a FreeBSD port (of the same version)
with similar patches it seems, I'll look at that.
There is a Debian port too, but it crashes immediately
on my Debian machine; I'll look at that too.
I am looking for tests and possibly OKs.
