My patch to Makefile.in was correct. Upstream modified the makefile of the
next version to ignore ldconfig errors. The ports includes now the same
changes.

Update to lzlib-1.5, lzip-1.15, clzip-1.5, lunzip-1.4 and plzip-1.1.

All tests pass.
