That way we can avoid the ugly distfile hackery. If you feel like it, you can provide a reop signature for it too :) This is not exactly common practice on Github, but in my opinion it is the right thing to do. And some people do practice it, e.g., https://github.com/mupen64plus/mupen64plus-core/releases ... notice how in addition to the Github-provided .zip and .tar.gz there is a tarball uploaded by the project maintainers. It's my understanding that Github tarballs are still theoretically prone to checksum issues should they update any of {git,gzip,tar} on their servers... -- Anthony J. Bentley
