I don't know about the quirks or conflicts or that stuff either,

Neither of these actually seems to need this, they both build and
package fine without. I'm not sure this particular instance saves a lot
of time when doing bulk builds but I do try to avoid this idiom where I
can.
Other than that it looks OK to me.
