The update program was previously only useful with a paid subscription, but it's now also possible to use it to update the free databases. >From DESCR: The GeoIP Update program performs automatic updates of GeoIP2 and GeoIP Legacy binary databases. Configuration instructions for free GeoLite2 and GeoLite Legacy databases can be found here : https://dev.maxmind.com/geoip/geoipupdate/
