I cannot seem to find the patch again but wondering if there has been any additional work on this?
I do not mind testing but I will not be too helpful from the code side of things.

In the past I found a patch for libmatemixer to enable it to be
compatible with OpenBSD. After some testing I found it worked mostly but
not 100%, and spoke to the dev about this.
